GRADUATE COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

 

Christina Education II (5 credits)

Biblically oriented, this course offers scriptural advice and information on youth outreach. It includes Bible School, Bible Studies, weekday clubs, camping and career and premarital problems.

 

Childhood Education II (5 credits)

A complete look at childhood education in the church prepares the student for a fuller ministry with children.

 

Israel's Prophets.  A continuity exists between Israel's earlier non-writing prophets and its later prophets. The course concentrates on the prophets themselves rather than their writings. A most worthwhile study.

 

Panorama of the Old Testament (5 credits)

Each book of the Old Testament is reviewed in relation to structure and chronological order. Each is also looked at from a Biblical Theological perspective.

 

Christian Hermeneutics II (6 credits)

A course designed to help the student attain the necessary skills to properly interpret the meaning of Scripture passages. This is an emphasis on Biblical Application.  

Leadership and Administration (6 credits)

A study to familiarize a student with the various elements of organization, supervision and training of future leaders within the Christian education movement.

Hebrew I and II (6 credits)

The first semester course is designed to give the student a knowledge of Hebrew grammar, syntax, and vocabulary. The second semester is devoted to Hebrew reading, with a continuation of grammar studies inductively from the reading selections.

PSY 531 Developmental Psychology (5 credits)

An overview of the human life span from conception through senescence. Continuity of development as well as the critical periods faced by the maturing human will be emphasized using contemporary theories and research as foundation materials.

Exploring Christology I (5 credits)

The ministry and person of the Savior is viewed from the Old Testament and then pursued through the New Testament.

 

Theology of Resurrection and Immortality (3 credits)

This study covers resurrection and the immortality of the dead. The fate of the unsaved will also be discussed in this study.

PHI 532 Apologetics (4 credits)

An examination of Christian evidences with emphasis upon the various approaches and predominant writers of recent times.

 

Revelation (4 credits)

The climatic book of the Bible ‑Revelation is viewed with charts and illustrations of John's vision on Patmos. A most interesting and applicable course, it will enrich the student's comprehension of the latter days.

 

Theology of the Sabbath (6 credits)

This course offers a rich and stirring theological of the relevance of the Sabbathkeeping for our tension-filled and restless society.

 

Advanced Theology (6 credits)

An advanced study of theology, which explores all of the details of the major doctrines and attributes of God and the Bible.

 

Pastoral Psychology II (4 credits)

This is a survey of the building blocks for an effective ministry within the realm of the pastoral leadership.

 

Theology III (8 credits)

This course is a detailed and involved study of Biblical Theology. The attributes, decrees and doctrines of the Bible are intricately examined.

Principles of Biblical Counseling (5 credits)

A course designed to help the student understand the basic concepts of Counseling through encouragement.

 

Leadership II (5 credits)

A clear perspective and personal appreciation of the obligations facing those who play leadership roles in churches and in other organizations. This course gives clear direction to those becoming the leaders of tomorrow.

 

Public Speaking II (4 credits)

In this course student will learn how to create a sermon or a presentation that a public will respond aggressively. This course will also help the student to mater the fear of public speaking. This course presents the student with an advanced model of public speaking.

 

Pastoral Theology III (6 credits)

A historical sketch of preaching lays the foundation of this course and proceeds into a comparison with modern day preaching and its ills. A must for every God called preacher.

 

Public Speaking IV (6 credits)

In this course student will learn how to create a sermon or a presentation that a public will respond aggressively. This course will also help the student to mater the fear of public speaking.

 

Philosophy of Cults (4 credits)

This examines the various philosophy and thought behind the cults that are in the world today.

 

Master Divinity Thesis (40,000 words 8 semester credit hours)

 

Principles of Biblical Counseling (4 credits)

A course designed to help the student understand the basic concepts of Counseling through encouragement.

 

Doctoral Dissertation (12 credits)

A 12 semester hours credit 60,000 word dissertation following the prescribed form disclosed in the study guide will enable the student to complete this requirement on Bible studies.

 

Effective Communication I  (4 credits)

This course is introduction to the study of small groups and a framework, general systems theory, is also presented to help organize the many concepts important to understanding how groups function.

 

Systematic Theology (6 credits)

This study situates theology squarely in the nexus of faith with freedom and creates a theology with a heart, soul, and voice.

From Sabbath to Sunday  (4 credits)

A complete research of the history of Sunday of how the change came about from Saturday to Sunday in early Christianity. A complete theological study of the Christian Sabbath in the light of the New Testament back to the Old Testament to establish which day is the Christian Sabbath.

 

Millennialism II  (4 credits)

In this study of Millennialism, two major views are considered, the Premillennial and the Amillenniai. The two doctrines are analyzed and compared for the benefit of the student.

 

Old Testament Archaeology  (4 credits)

The archaeological discoveries from the time of Alexander the Great through the times of Christ and the journeys of Paul are examined.

Pastoral Psychology (4 credits)

A survey of the building blocks for an effective ministry within the realm of the pastoral leadership.

 

Church History (5 credits)

The church in retrospect is considered from its first outreach to modern day movements. Personages, places and events inform the student as to the history of the Christian church.

 

Church Administration  (4 credits)

A practical guide covering all facets of church administration in black churches
